The Majestic Hudson

The mighty river flows to the ocean.

The tribes that once existed,

Henry steered ship and crew up,

what came was the end of a people.

The beginning of a new age in history.

From a colonial existence,

to a battle with an old empire.

The river of Hudson opened a continent.

A land of freedom.

A home to all who hope.

The majestic Hudson,

Daily Prompt: Home

The Daily Prompt states: When you’re away from home, what person, thing, or place do you miss the most?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us HOME.

Pulling in the driveway, home from a long day at work.

Up the steps I bound,

anxiously wanting to open the door.

My ears hear the sound they yearned for all day.

A giant smile across a tiny face.

Innocent eyes that only know one thing.

A joyous moment, fills the house.

Mommy relieved, reinforcements are here.

No time to take off my tie,

its time to play.

Chased all over the house,

father and son.

Mommy flopping into the recliner.

Home is wherever the family is.

Home is where the story begins.

Daily Prompt: Significant

The Daily Prompt states: Your personal sculptor is carving a person, thing, or event from the last month of your life into the glistening marble of immortality. What’s the statue and what makes it so significant?

Photographers, artists, poets: show us SIGNIFICANT.

A moment, or series of moments,

Some things are life-changing.

One can never forget.

Or maybe millions will always remember.

A time, a place, an event.

Significant for years, decades,

generations to come.

You will always remember where you were.

Significant is special.

Significant is significant because it touches,

touches all.
