For Love Of a Game: A Poem About Baseball

A crack heard across the field.

Fans cheer.

A runner sprints.

The bag awaits the tag.

The ball,

burns through the hot,

stale, summer air.

All eyes stop,

staring at the play.

Will he score?

Will he be out?

Fans, passion,

life,

death,

on every play.

Love,

a game.

Merely a game.
